To begin with, it has been a pretty busy start of the year 2010. A lot has been happening lately such as my vacational trip to Malaysia and Singapore. As a result, I could come up with a fun story for the Phnom Penh Post, anyway. For a while, I’ve started shooting a documentary for my graduation this year! This is sorta lots of work because it involves writing an about 15-minute research proposal and really shooting of the documentary. I felt that I hadn’t done a great job in following the schedule, not to mention the hectic days I had that deterred me from getting good marks for the research proposal. :=D

I have traveled to the place (floating village at K.Chhnang province) that I must make my documentary more than several times. Each time I went, I always pushed myself a little too hard to achieve what I planned. I did manage to interview many villagers; however, it was a bit tough because something unexpected happened. Therefore, there will, as i am thinking right now, be a little difficulty to be dealt with when I start to edit the videos at full speed. For example, one day you shot your protagonist/interviewee who wears a red shirt. The next day, he wears a white shirt! Something like that occurred to me no matter how hard I tried, for instance going straight to his house so he could find his shirt! It didn’t work as his daughter said his shirt was nowhere to be found. Hearted-broken I was! Well, besides villagers, I also interviewed an NGO guy, a district governor, a commune chief, an assistant to the commune chief, and soon ‘a primary school teacher’ who provides legal advice to the villagers, the Geography professor from Singapore, and hopefully a fisheries official. You might have lots of questions why these people become my next target to be interviewed. Well, that’s a long story . As for my deadline of the submission, I have to finish my editing in half April and get many people to see the documentary so I’ll graduate safely. Wish me good luck.
